What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a health care system that utilizes tiny needles to stimulate the body’s energy pathways, called meridians, to bring about a healing response. Acupuncture, one of the “five pillars” of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has been used in China for over 3000 years and was introduced to the United States in the 1970’s.
How does acupuncture work?
The human body is composed of many systems, including the cardiovascular system, immune system, digestive system, and endocrine system. The meridian system is one of those systems as well. During an acupuncture treatment, the acupuncture physician stimulates specific acupoints in the body that activate the central nervous system (the brain) that then triggers the body’s natural healing processes. Studies done of persons having CAT scans done during an acupuncture treatment proves this theory. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3480944/

Book a no-charge consultation with one of our practitioners to find out how acupuncture can help you regain your health.
Is acupuncture safe?
Very. Acupuncture performed by qualified licensed Acupuncture Physicians is known to have very low adverse reactions. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19954337) Our licensed Acupuncture Physicians are highly trained in safety and clean needle technique and regularly attend continuing education in acupuncture safety and efficacy. In addition, it is mandatory that we use sterile, disposable needles to ensure the utmost safety of our patients.
Is acupuncture painful for patients?
Because acupuncture needles are very thin, very rarely do you feel anything at all. Our technique is gentle while still being very effective.
How long do acupuncture treatment sessions last?
Your first treatment consists of both a medical exam and a treatment. Along with time allotted for paperwork, you will be with us for about 1 ½ hours. Your following treatments will be approximately an hour long. We always want enough time so you never feel rushed.
What other treatments are available?
Our Acupuncture Physicians are highly trained and able to provide other treatments such as cupping therapy, massage therapy, facial rejuvenation, APIT and more in combination with your acupuncture treatments.
